Between Broadway and University
Piola Restaurant New York proudly presents Jack Laroux’s exhibition of paintings entitled “The Big Apple Show”, a summer series inspired by his world travels and perpetual pursuit to entertain art enthusiasts with colorful and vibrant canvases. Jack’s vivid cubist interpretation of a psychedelic world is enhanced by urban, surreal and abstract concepts. Many images in Jack’s work are based upon stained glass, shattered glass and kaleidoscope imagery and his paintings portray the effects of light illuminating and shining through surfaces. Each painting is spawned by life experiences in combination with embellished stories intriguing viewers to continuously explore the enigmatic and layered composition of light- hearted subjects. This animated quality, central to Jack’s artwork, keeps his art patrons mesmerized and anticipating what he will create next.
Jack Laroux was born in 1977 and raised in Yonkers, New York with a strong Polish heritage (despite his French last name). He attended Parsons School of Design in New York and Paris from 1998-2003 where he studied Illustration design and fine art. When Jack is not being a health fanatic in the gym, snowboarding the Swiss Alps, surfing the exotic Long Island coastline, mountain biking the Catskill Mountains or traveling around the globe searching for inspiration, he resides and works in his New Jersey studio located in Bergen County, only minutes from Manhattan.
